The Dakota County Administration Center in Hastings, MN recently chose the Beta-Calco Bubble luminaire as it’s signature fixture. “Wold A&E designed and specified the large renovation project and selected Beta-Calco for it’s quality construction and performance,” says Greg Ridley, Outside Sales, at TSR Lighting+Controls.
The 10’ diameter LED fixture, a center piece in these spaces, combines function with beauty and should provide years and years of maintenance free illumination.

Before fall takes over full time, please take a moment to learn about a fantastic memorial project led by HGA and dedicated earlier this summer.
Located on the Minnesota State Capitol grounds as part of a Minnesota Military Family tribute, the table “recognizes Gold Star Families who have lost a loved one while serving our country. Honoring these families who are reminded every day of their loss when they see an empty chair at their own dinner tables, the Gold Star Table made of bronze stands as a symbol that they will one day be reunited. The table’s five-pointed base represents the Gold Star, while northern hemisphere constellations shine through the table’s surface to symbolize a constant navigational guide home”. (per Maplewood, MN based MG McGrath Architectural Sheet Metal, the builders of the table)
HGA Landscape Architects, including Ted Lee, and HGA Lighting Designer Chrysanthi Stockwell formulated a technique for providing a foundation of light to support the table, as well as to mysteriously back light the constellations cut in the table surface.
The design team, working in conjunction with TSR Lighting+Controls, selected a linear LED wet location ribbon lighting solution, manufactured by GM Lighting, to accomplish these tasks. The lighting is hidden from view and powered via vault mounted transformers and a remote dimmer control. Impressive by day, stunning at night, emotional always: Everyone should take a few moments the next time they are near the Capitol and stop to experience the powerful feelings of this project.
