Many companies are popping up these days that curate collections of everything from make-up to dog supplies. In a time when there’s a dizzying amount of purchasing options for any given product, these companies have become popular because customers know that the products in these collections are selected based on certain standards and quality.
Inter-lux was ahead of the game, starting a curated a collection of lighting products sixteen years ago. The company was started with the concept of bringing high design, high quality European brands into the US market. Their lighting products represent the best in international design.
In order to bring this curated collection over from Europe, Inter-lux partnered with several companies and worked with them to UL-List their products, as well as revise their catalogs to be suitable for the US market.
There are currently six European lighting manufacturers that Inter-lux has introduced to the US market. They are: ALM, Filix, Linea Light iLED, Mike Stoane, and Sattler Vice. Whitegoods, also a part of their collection, is a US based company. Designers can find all the tools they need to illuminate entire projects within these seven brands.
Word has spread among lighting agencies across the country of Inter-lux’s unique offerings and top-notch service. And their sales network has grown from the Maryland/Washington DC market to having reps in every market in North America.
TSR is excited for the opportunity to represent Inter-lux.
One of the world’s largest clocks (each face is 24′-4″ in diameter) has been restored to it’s original 1889 design using back-lit glass. In 1949, the cracking glass clock faces were covered by ceramic plates and neon was added to the steel hands. The City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County teamed up to renovate the historic landmark to it’s original nighttime skyline-prominence by installing new glass and lighting.
The Minneapolis office of Schuler Shook was hired to provide a solution for illuminating the four clock faces. Michael DiBlasi, Partner, states, “We employed a technique to back light the glass clock face using a “bounce drop” to provide even and diffused lighting and avoid structure shadows. The StarTek fixture gave us the needed distribution, very high lumens and an economical solution to complete the design.”
The fixture employed by Schuler Shook is the Lestra, by StarTek Lighting America, with a custom bracket that provided adjustability in a vertical surface mounting position. The Lestra family provides up to 24,500 lm, with an efficacy of over 140 LPW, in an extremely uniform pattern. The Lestra is also an affordable product considering the quality, Made In America construction and performance. TSR Lighting+Controls congratulates the design team for this fantastic solution!
